Japanese Obon & Taiko Drumming Festival: July 29 (always last Saturday in July each year), 5:00-9:00 p.m., Alton Baker Park, Eugene, OR. Free admission. 541-687-9600.

Enjoy an evening of Obon dancing (audience participation is welcome), taiko drumming, children's activities, Asian foods and crafts. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Bring your kite or make one at the Asian Kite Festival. Enjoy an afternoon of kite flying, competitions and prizes, and Asian kite exhibit and kite making class ($5 supply fee).
