The Asian-American Foundation of Oregon was incorporated in 1993, as a public benefit corporation.
Mission
The mission of the AAFO is to contribute towards education of the general public on Asian and Asian-American cultures by providing scholarships, sponsoring exhibits and lectures in schools and in the community and by establishing an Asian-American Cultural Education Center in Eugene, Oregon.
Background
The AAFO was incorporated in 1993 as a public benefit organization under the Oregon Non-profit Corporation Act and qualifies as an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, education and cultural purposes.
Bylaws of the AAFO provide that any person who supports the mission and activities of the AAFO, whose application is approved by the Board of Trustees of the AAFO, and who agree to pay the required membership dues may become a member of the AAFO. The AAFO is supported entirely by volunteer staffing and is funded solely through fund raising activities such as annual auctions and donations towards scholarship awards.
